CARLSBORG — A two-vehicle collision in which a van rolled over onto U.S. Highway 101 blocked the eastbound lane of the road for about a half hour on Sunday afternoon.
Betty Kaczynski, 59, of Sequim, who was driving a 1991 Volkswagen van, was turning left onto the highway from Kitchen-Dick Road at about 4 p.m. and was hit by David Hefton, 23, of Port Angeles, driving a 1994 Infinity, the State Patrol said.
According to the State Patrol the cause of the wreck was Kaczynski’s failure to yield the right of way to Hefton.
While the lane was blocked, traffic alternated directions in the westbound lane.
Kaczynski’s van rolled over onto the eastbound lane, blocking it for about a half hour, said State Patrol.
Both Hefton and Kaczynski went to Olympic Medical Center for minor injuries; they were treated and discharged, State Patrol said.
Both vehicles were total losses.
Both Hefton and Kaczynski were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision and neither drugs nor alcohol were considered factors in the collision.
