Construction crews will repair a portion of U.S. Highway 101 in Jefferson County the week of Aug. 1 and complete work on state Highway 112 near Clallam Bay next week.
Beginning Aug. 1, drivers on Highway 101 can expect delays of at least 15 minutes as state Department of Transportation (DOT) workers repair and preserve areas of the highway between Old Gardiner Road along Discovery Bay and Gardiner Cemetery Road.
From 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 5, crews will work along a 4.6-mile section of 101 between mileposts 277 and 281.6.
A pilot car and flaggers will lead travelers through the work zone.
Travelers also can expect to see the speed limit reduced to 35 mph around the clock throughout the week.
The work will include chip sealing of existing pavement.
This work requires dry weather and could be rescheduled due to rain.
Beginning on Monday, travellers can expect alternating single-lane traffic through the construction site at milepost 15.8 on state Highway 112 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.
Workers will install a new culvert, remove debris and complete repairs to the road surface, DOT said.
The highway had been closed on Nov. 15 by a massive landslide after regionwide flooding.
Crews reopened it near Clallam Bay to two-way travel in March.
Construction crews will install a new culvert to divert water from the hillside and direct it beneath the roadway. They will also remove some remaining slide debris and repair the road.
In addition to a new culvert, crews will finish final paving of the eastbound lane and make repairs to Eagle Crest Way. Bump, loose gravel and motorcycles use caution signs are in place. Flaggers will alternate travelers during work activities.
Once the work is complete, the road will reopen to two-way traffic and the project will be finished.
State engineers expect this to occur by the end of next week.
