PORT ANGELES — Deer Park Cinema is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a man who broke into the theater early Thursday morning.
The burglar, described as a white male of average height with a thin build, smashed a glass door with a rock and damaged display cases and a cash register.
There was no money in the register.
The break-in occurred around midnight.
A glass door for The Crossing Church, located next door to the theater, was also damaged. The church was not entered.
Manager Tom Watson and his wife, Terri, arrived at the cinema while responding to the alarm a few minutes after the burglar left.
“I saw the door and was shocked,” Terri Watson said.
“I didn’t know we were that close to encountering [him].”
The burglar took only candy, ice cream and bottled water.
Tom Watson said he didn’t have an estimate on the cost of the damage, which insurance is expected to cover.
Surveillance video shows that the burglar was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a light-colored backpack.
Anyone with information on the crime can phone the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at 360-417-2459.
