PORT ANGELES — The public is invited to wish Glenn Cutler, city Public Works and Utilities director, farewell this Tuesday.
All are welcome to the meeting rooms of the Vern Burton Memorial Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. for a retirement celebration honoring Cutler and his 14 years as the city’s public works director.
Cutler, 62, is a registered professional engineer in Washington and Georgia with 40 years of experience in managing public works and utility functions for the U.S. Navy and the city of Port Angeles.
Craig Fulton, former director of facilities at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, was hired to fill Cutler’s spot in June after a months-long application and interview process.
Both Cutler and Fulton, 51, are retired Navy captains.
Cutler announced his retirement in March from leading a public works and facilities department with 98 employees, an $84 million budget and 12 separate departments, including an electric utility.
Cutler oversaw some of the city’s largest construction projections, including the replacement of the Eighth Street bridges and the start of the same work on the Lauridsen Boulevard bridge over Peabody Creek.
Cutler also supervised the design and beginning of the city’s $42 million combined sewer overflow project, the largest public works project in the city’s history.
