PORT ANGELES — Friday’s final results from the Jefferson and Clallam County auditors left the outcome of the Feb. 9 special election unchanged.
Clallam
The count of 13,948 ballots Friday for the Sequim School District’s proposed $54 million construction bond did not put the measure over the 60 percent threshold needed for bond passage.
The count raised approval percentages for two four-year Crescent School District levies: a maintenance and operations levy and a capital projects levy. Both had been approved by voters in earlier counts.
Clallam County voter turnout was 61.29 percent, with 14,773 ballots received in the all-mail election out of 24,104 registered voters.
The Sequim school bond has received 8,104 votes, or 57.34 percent approving it, to 6,029 votes, or 42.66 percent, opposed.
The vote total in Clallam County was 8,001 votes, or 57.04 percent, approving it to 5,947 votes, or 42.64 percent, opposing it.
In Jefferson County, which has a small number of voters in the Sequim School District, the totals are 103 votes, or 55.68 percent, approving the bond to 82 votes, or 44.32, opposing it.
The final count resulted in these totals for Crescent School District levies:
Its four-year maintenance and operations levy was approved by 537 votes, or 66.05 percent, and opposed by 276, or 33.95 percent.
Its four-year capital projects levy was approved by 533 votes, or 65.56 percent, and opposed by 280, or 34.44 percent.
Levies need only a 50 percent majority for passage.
Jefferson
In Jefferson County, the Port Townsend School District’s $40.9 million construction bond won 73.29 percent approval, while the Chimacum School District’s $29.1 million bond proposal failed with 58.04 percent approval.
Also approved was a $530,000 bond to replace Discovery Bay Fire & Rescue’s fire station. The measure won 62.57 percent approval.
Maintenance and operation levies proposed for Brinnon and Quilcene schools also passed. Quilcene’s four-year levy passed with 66.97 percent approval, while Brinnon’s two-year levy won 64.51 percent approval.
Total voter turnout in Jefferson County was 12,762 out of 23,100 registered, or 55.25 percent.
