PORT ANGELES — Lee Hunt wants to put a buzz in Bill Benedict’s ear over the sheriff’s proposed noise ordinance — the angry buzz of a radio-controlled model airplane.
Hunt isn’t alone.
Clallam County residents upset over the “Public Disturbance Noises” law have built “a thick file” of complaints about the proposal, Tammy Sullenger, county commissioners’ administrative assistant, said Monday.
The commissioners even will link today’s public hearing on the issue — which will start soon after 10:30 a.m. — to the Forks City Council chambers so West End residents can air their opinions.
Hunt is a 73-year-old model aviator who’s especially angry that the ordinance singles out hobby airplanes and vehicles among “internal combustion engines” whose sounds the law would discourage.
Benedict said Monday he’ll omit the reference that he says is redundant anyway.
It’s doubtful that the change will soothe Hunt.
