The resident council of Avamere at Port Townsend recently conducted a clothing drive to support the homeless shelter behind the American Legion’s Post 26, 209 Monroe St.
Residents collected more than 400 items of clothing to donate to the shelter for distribution to the city’s homeless community.
According to Jason Segar, Avamere’s executive director, “We had so many donated items that David could not take them in his car and we had to take our bus.”
