PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Commissioner Mike Chapman promised to continue to allow the media full access to any future functions he has at Republican headquarters.
Chapman’s assertion followed a Tuesday night incident in which Clallam County Republican Party leaders blocked news media access to county commissioner candidate Sue Forde, Republican, while she was attending a function at party headquarters at 509 S. Lincoln St.
Chapman on Wednesday said he was “looking into” the incident in which a Peninsula Daily News reporter was denied access to Forde while she was attending a “private party” put on by new Party Chairman Dick Smithton on Election Night Tuesday.
“I want to find out what happened,” Chapman said. “They made a decision last night and I’m going to let them know that that’s not my decision down the road.”
