BRINNON — Extended family of the victims of a Sunday cabin fire in Brinnon are expected to attend a vigil at the Olympic Canal Tracts Memorial Garden on Saturday.
The vigil is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., said Angela Kreutzer. It will be a chance to honor the lives of Jenny L. Drake and Jerry A Drake, both 42, and their three children, ages 11, 8 and 2.
The family died in a cabin fire on the 600 block of Salmon Street early Sunday morning.
Kreutzer said extended family were unable to attend a vigil that had been set for Thursday evening because of another planned at the same time in Monroe, where the family lived.
“The Drake family loved coming here, no matter the weather or time of year,” she said. “It would mean a lot to the remaining family to celebrate the lives of the Drakes with this community.”
The cause of the explosion and fire reported at about 1 a.m. Sunday has not yet been determined. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating. Jefferson County Undersheriff Art Frank have said it might take weeks to determine the cause.
A memorial service for the Drake family is planned for 2 p.m. July 8 at Cascade Community Church in Monroe, where the Drakes went to church, according to a relative.
