FORKS — It isn’t as bad as was thought.
Forks Police Chief Rick Bart said receipts at Pacific Pizza, which was burglarized at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, did not contain full credit card numbers.
Bart had said Monday that the full numbers were on the receipts and that customers of the popular pizza parlor should call their banks to tell them that data from the customers’ credit and debit cards might be in the hands of a burglar or burglars who broke into the pizza parlor and took a safe containing receipts, checks and a sizable amount of cash collected from Thursday through Sunday.
But Tuesday, Bart said more investigation revealed that only partial numbers were on the receipts taken from the pizza parlor at 870 S. Forks Ave. owned by Mark Raben.
He added that burglars may have obtained checks, which have bank account numbers on them.
Bart said police had not received any reports of fraudulent transactions related to the burglary as of Tuesday morning.
No leads
Bart said Tuesday that police have no leads in either the Pacific Pizza burglary nor in a burglary, also committed in pre-dawn hours Monday, at Jerry’s Small Engines & Rental, 1051 S. Forks Ave., owned by Jerry Lappell.
Between 50 and 60 gallons of gasoline were taken from Jerry’s.
Also taken from the pizza parlor was the delivery car, a 2004 white four-door Chevrolet Malibu, license plate AIE3600.
The burglars are believed to have driven the car eastbound on U.S. Highway 101 toward Port Angeles.
Police believe the two burglaries were committed by the same person or people.
Neither business had security cameras, but police are viewing tapes from nearby businesses.
Bart has asked customers of the pizza parlor to notify the Police Department at 360-374-2223 or email rbar.fpd@forkswashington.org if there is any unusual activity on credit card accounts since Monday morning or if they see the missing car.
