Rainfest slated to pour in Forks

FORKS — An umbrella parade, music, art and quilts will celebrate Rainfest in Forks today through Sunday.

A variety of vendors will show their wares at the Fabric of the Forest Quilt Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Forks High School auxiliary gym at 191 Spartan Ave.

Quilter Kim Diehl — who has been featured in American Patchwork and Quilting magazine and has recently published her fifth book on quilting, Simple Graces — will teach classes today and Saturday and lecture at a trunk show tonight.

Both today and Saturday’s classes — which are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Department of Natural Resources Conference Center, 411 Tillicum Lane — will focus on applique work. Each costs $50.

Today’s class was filled by Thursday, but a few spaces remain in Saturday’s Gathering Garden Class.
