PORT ANGELES — Radio Pacific, Inc. recently presented checks totalling $13,579 to the Sequim Food Bank, the Port Angeles Food Bank and the Port Angeles Salvation Army.
The donations were collected by the company’s Text-to-Donate campaign on its radio stations.
The stations, KONP, the Strait 102.1 and KZQM, aired announcements for three weeks beginning in mid-April asking listeners to donate via text message.
According to a press release, the donations from listeners were boosted by a $2,000 donation from Coast Farm and Ranch in Sequim.
“I expected that we’d be able to raise money,” said Sue Ellen Riesau, Radio Pacific’s general manger. “I know that KONP has a really good solid reputation in the community of helping the food bank. We all just felt like this was the thing that we could do with the power of broadcast, and it was successful.”
