QUILCENE — A 28-year-old Quilcene man was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault after an early morning crash Sunday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.
Douglas Ceehorne was taken into custody and later released to medical personnel for treatment of possible injuries, said the Sheriff’s Office, which did not provide more details.
Two people were seriously hurt in the single-car crash on Linger Longer Road in Quilcene at about 2:14 a.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The two people were not identified, and neither was the hospital to which they were taken.
No information was available Monday about the conditions of those in the wreck.
Five people from the Quilcene area were in the car when the red Ford Mustang slide off the roadway and broke through a large wooden fence, the statement said, adding that all were thought to have been intoxicated.
Pieces of the fence “impaled through and into the passenger compartment of the vehicle,” the office reported.
“It is believed alcohol, excessive speed and the icy road conditions all contributed to the crash,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash remained under investigation Monday.
