QUILCENE — A ramped-up Heritage Days this year features an expanded three-day festival beginning Friday that will offer everything from old-time rifle demonstrations to fiddle music.
“It’s all about celebrating our heritage with the community at large and instilling in our younger generation the need to preserve our unique culture and history,” event coordinator Becky Anderson said.
“We’re taking a big jump into being a weekend event,” Anderson said of the festival, which was only offered on one day — a Saturday — last year.
“The planners have been working for almost a year in bringing together community groups and talents.”
Among the features new to the third annual festival will be storytelling events, panning for gold, a raffle and events at Quilcene’s new Teen Center, dubbed “Da Shack.”
The festival theme this year is “Quilcene: Our Place in Space.”
