QUILCENE — First Presbyterian Church Pastor Becky Anderson was at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday, comforting the family and friends of a local teen-ager killed in a head-on crash.
The day before, she was offering counseling to students at Quilcene School following a fatal shooting Sunday night in the parking lot of a nearby motel.
And Wednesday, she sat in Jefferson County Superior Court while a 62-year-old Quilcene man was charged in the shooting.
Quilcene has been shaken by two tragedies in the past three days that have directly affected at least four families. Many others have been indirectly affected in this town of about 600 people.
Two people died, two more were hospitalized and a fifth jailed as a result of the tragic events that unfolded following a celebration of the community’s heritage on Saturday.
Many are stepping forward to help.
“Its been a hard time, and a lot of families are touched,” Anderson said Wednesday. “The nice thing about the community is it is rallying.”
