QUILCENE — Riding everything from miniature ponies to logging trucks, Quilcene residents kicked off their annual fall fair Saturday with a colorful parade.
Led by a color guard from the Brinnon VFW and Ladies Auxiliary, the 45-minute parade had 61 entries, including the Sequim Irrigation Festival float, which won best of show. The Quilcene High School Marching Band provided music, as did a truckload of Andy Mackie’s harmonica players.
Grand Marshal Dodee Brown waved from the back of a convertible, followed by Alvin and Laverne Ackerman, the fair’s king and queen, in an antique green pickup.
The Quilcene Fair continues today on the high school grounds.
