BRINNON — The state Parks and Recreation Commission will provide information next week about a $3.2 million sewage treatment facility project scheduled for construction at Dosewallips State Park.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June and be completed by January.
The 425-acre park will remain open during construction.
During the meeting, State Parks staff will present the construction plan, elements of the project and timelines.
The new system will replace an aging septic system at the park, the state said.
It includes a new membrane bioreactor sewage treatment facility at the Green Hill property site.
Associated work on new pump stations and removal of the old septic system will begin in the park in September.
Dosewallips State Park has freshwater shoreline on both sides of the Dosewallips River and is a popular site for such water recreation activities as clamming, diving and boating.
The sewer system project there is part of the Puget Sound Initiative regional cleanup effort.
