PORT ANGELES — A water main break, impacting seven customers, was discovered Wednesday morning at the intersection of West Sixth Street and South H Street.
City crews are onsite to repair the broken main. The city is requesting that individuals avoid the area for the safety of the public and the city crews, according to a press release.
After repairs, water will be restored, the water main will be disinfected and flushed, and water samples will be taken to be tested.
After water is restored, all homes impacted by the break should use bottled water or boiled tap water for drinking, cooking, making ice and brushing teeth.
Residents should bring the water to a rolling boil for one minute to kill organisms and then let the water cool before using.
Tap water should be safe for all other household uses.
The precautionary boil water notice will be lifted when satisfactory test results have been received. Customers will be notified by city staff via door hangers.
If individuals did not have their water shut off this morning, or did not experience low water pressure, they do not need to boil their water.
