PORT TOWNSEND – The Key City Players will start its 50th anniversary year with a present for theater patrons – more seats and a real lobby.
Artistic director Denise Winter announced Saturday that the Players’ 46-seat theater, which faces the skateboard parking lot at the end of Washington Street, will expand into leased space next door.
The space was formerly occupied by Townsend Bay Property Management.
The expansion will allow the addition of 20 more seats as well as space for theater patrons to be inside during intermission instead of out in what is now the theater’s “spacious lobby” – the parking lot.
“We’re hoping this will greatly increase the audience’s enjoyment,” Winter said.
“They’ll be able to mix and mingle in a lobby that’s not outdoors.”
