Property taxpayers in Clallam and Jefferson counties are getting a little bit of a break.
No, taxes won”t cost less.
But because the normal Oct. 31 due date falls on a Sunday, second-half tax returns can be postmarked Nov. 1 in Jefferson County, and postmarked Nov. 1 or hand-delivered at one of three locations in Clallam County on Monday.
Here are the details for each county:
Clallam County
Second-half property taxes are due by Monday, Nov. 1.
Payments can be left in the drive-by dropbox in front of the county courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, or brought to the Treasurer’s Office inside.
Other drop-off locations for Clallam County property taxpayers include the Sequim licensing office in Sequim Plaza, 1001 E. Washington St., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; and Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St., during office hours or in its drop box after hours.
Credit card payments are accepted by phone and on the Internet.
To pay by phone, call 888-272-9829, use Clallam County code 5603 and press 1 for “real estate.”

There is a credit card fee of between 2.5 and 4 percent.
Payments must be in the office or postmarked by Nov. 1; those postmarked or dropped off Nov. 2 or later will be subject to delinquent interest, said County Treasurer Ruth Gerdon.

Jefferson County
Second-half property taxes are due by Sunday, but the Treasurer’s Office will accept the next day’s postmark.
Payments may be left in the drive-by dropbox, located in the rear parking lot of the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Other drop-off locations include Bank Of America, 734 Water St., Port Townsend; Bank of America, 10 Oak Bay Road, Port Hadlock; American Marine Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, Port Ludlow; and US Bank, 14890 Center Road, Quilcene.
Credit card payments are accepted by phone. To pay by phone, call 888-272-9829. The fee chart and jurisdiction code are located on the back of the taxpayer’s statement.
A fee of approximately 3 percent will be added to a credit card payment.
Tax payments postmarked after Nov. 1 will be assessed 1 percent interest through November. The penalty increases to 8 percent and an additional 1 percent interest after Dec. 1.
