PORT TOWNSEND — Mike Kenna, owner of Printery Communications and Star Copy Center, was hailed as a “Hometown Hero” in the August edition of Outside magazine.
Kenna received the honor for creating a “green” print shop. It is the first print shop in eight western states to be certified as eco-friendly by the Forest Stewardship Council.
The Printery has also received numerous environmental awards along with ecognition from the Association of Washington Business as an environmental innovator.
It uses vegetable-based inks, chlorine-free, recycled papers and the Waterless Printing Process, which reduces airborne printing press emissions.
“Our talented staff is very experienced with providing cost-effective web, graphic, print and mailing business solutions in a sustainable package,” Kenna said.
