Primary election results certified in Clallam, Jefferson counties

PORT ANGELES — Clallam and Jefferson county auditors have certified results of the Aug. 5 primary election.

Washington primary election results must be certified and submitted within 14 days to the Secretary of State.

Turnout in both counties was higher than the state average of 29.02 percent, with 33.43 percent of Clallam County voters and 44.03 percent of Jefferson County voters turning in ballots.

The first- and second-place finishers for office advance to the Nov. 4 general election.

In the only ballot measure, voters in Clallam County (64.37 to 35.63 percent) and Jefferson County (66.15 to 33.85 percent) approved the Clallam County Fire District 3 levy lid lift, which will restore the district’s regular tax levy to $1.50 per assessed property value.

The fire district is based in Carlsborg and covers Sequim as well as a portion of East Jefferson County.

Ballots for the general election will be mailed on Oct. 17.

Clallam County

Hospital District 2 (Olympic Medical Center), Position 7 — Penney Sanders, incumbent, 53.87 percent, Laurie Force 34.29 percent, Mic Sager 10.98 percent (withdrew).

Port Angeles City Council, Position 1 — LaTrisha Suggs, incumbent, 52.34 percent, James Taylor 29.87 percent, Gilbert Hall 17.53 percent.

Port Angeles City Council, Position 4 — Kate Dexter, incumbent, 60.96 percent, Marolee “Mimi” Smith Dvorak 27.47 percent, Ralph Davisson 11.09 percent.

Port Angeles School District, Position 1 — Sarah Methner, incumbent, 41.41 percent, Kim Butler 12.86 percent, Ruth Replogle 12.64 percent, Ned Hammar 32.57 percent (withdrew).

Clallam County Fire District 3 levy lid lift — Yes 64.37 percent, No 35.63 percent.

Jefferson County

Port Townsend City Council, Position 1 —Fred Obee 69.18 percent, Dylan Quarles 25.45 percent, Mikki Porter 4.97 percent.

Clallam County Fire District 3 levy lid lift — Yes 66.15 percent, No 33.85 percent.
