PORT TOWNSEND — A Poulsbo man has been arrested for investigation of possession with intent to deliver and hit and run after a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash on state Highway 20 that led to a Brinnon woman begin taken to a hospital.
Florence M. Lail, 56 — a driver of one of the vehicles — was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital after the 5:40 p.m. Friday wreck as a precautionary measure, the State Patrol said in a memo. She was treated and discharged, a hospital spokesperson said.
The State Patrol said Che J. Salazar, 37, of Poulsbo was driving a vehicle west on state Highway 20 near the Highway 19 turnoff when two vehicles ahead of him slowed for traffic. He struck a vehicle in front of him. That vehicle struck a third vehicle in front of it.
Salazar fled, the State Patrol said. A K9 unit from Clallam County was called but could not locate him Friday night. He was taken into custody Saturday morning.
More details on the drug possession allegation were not available Saturday.
Two Port Angeles residents were not injured, said the State Patrol, which listed them as Zachary C. Bundschuh, 26, and Shelagh M. Sweeney, 24.
