PORT TOWNSEND — The Wooden Boat Foundation has named an interim executive director from within its own ranks.
Kaci Cronkhite has been named to succeed Chris Kluck, who jumped ship for the Northwest Maritime Center last week.
Kluck had been working on Maritime Center fund-raising activities, and his move did not come as a surprise, foundation vice president Larry Eifert said Friday.
The departure of Kluck, and some other staff members in recent months, is related to low cash reserves, Eifert confirmed.
“Finances drive everything at a nonprofit,” he said. “When times are good, the staff expands; when times are not good, the staff reduces in size.”
He emphasized that the foundation is not at risk of floundering.
