PORT TOWNSEND — A city woman was airlifted to a Seattle hospital Wednesday evening after a one-vehicle wreck on state Highway 19 that State Patrol said will result in a driving under the influence charge.
A State Patrol report said that Angela M. Guevara, 47, was driving north on the highway near milepost 13, about 4 miles south of Port Townsend, when her 1993 Toyota Corolla crossed the centerline at 7:34 p.m.
The Toyota left the roadway and crashed into the brush on the southbound side, coming to rest on its side.
The southbound lane was blocked for approximately 2 hours, according to State Patrol.
No other vehicles were involved.
Guevara was injured and transported by air to Harborview Medical Center.
She was in serious condition but improving in the intensive care unit this morning, according to a Harborview spokesperson.
The report said Guevara will be charged with driving under the influence.
State Patrol said the car was totally destroyed. It was impounded by Northwest Towing.
