PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend woman was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a medical emergency and driving off the road near Port Gamble, the State Patrol said.
Linda R. Bozak, 49, of Port Townsend is believed to have died of a medical emergency while driving westbound on state Highway 104 near Port Gamble Road at about a little after midnight Thursday morning, a State Patrol report said.
Bozak crossed the center line and left the roadway, coming to rest in brush, while driving a Kia Optima, the report said.
The specific cause of death is still unknown, but officials have attributed it to the medical emergency, not the crash, said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, State Patrol spokesperson.
Bozak was wearing her seat belt. It also is unknown if drugs or alcohol were in involved.
