PORT TOWNSEND — No matter whether you were an officer, a gentleman or a gofer, You’re invited to a reunion Nov. 21.
Local cast and crew members of “An Officer and a Gentlemen” — the 1982 blockbuster largely filmed in Port Townsend — will gather at the Rose Theatre for a showing hosted by the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Exteriors for the movie were filmed at Fort Worden State Park, Bremerton, Seattle, and Tacoma.
It starred Richard Gere, Debra Winger and Louis Gossett Jr. in a coming-of-age-cum-boy-wins-girl plot set around a fictitious Navy pilot training command.
Gossett’s memorable portrayal as the Marine instructor won him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1983.
Bill Tennent, Jefferson County Historical Society director, said the Nov. 21 reunion will be part of the “Port Townsend Goes Hollywood” exhibit currently at the museum in the Old City Hall, 540 Water St.
“We thought it would be fun to host a movie reunion and include stories or anecdotes from local residents giving a little behind-the-scenes insight,” he said.

The reunion showing of the film at the Rose Theatre, 235 Taylor St., will start at noon on Nov. 21 and will be followed by a panel discussion of participants.
