PORT TOWNSEND — Time will turn back to the late 1800s today as the sixth annual Victorian Days get under way.
The celebration this year will include high teas, a costume ball, detective game and other events that will return participants to the days of top hats and petticoats.
The five-day event in celebration of the Port Townsend’s Victorian past will give residents and visitors alike a chance to dress up in period clothing, beginning with a beard and mustache contest and red dress competition at 11 a.m. today at Pope Marine Park.
Visitors can take high tea from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Belmont Hotel or join the Inn Parlour Tours and Teas at various locations from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday.
The arts and crafts of the Victorian era will be on display at the Jefferson County Museum, 540 Water St., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.
