PORT TOWNSEND — A Salem, Ore., developer is building a 104,000-square-foot senior housing complex in Port Townsend.
The three-story, 120-unit building will be constructed about five blocks south of Discovery Road, off 13th Street between Hancock and Rosecrans streets.
The developer, Mountain West Senior Housing LLC, operates 18 similar retirement communities in Washington and Oregon.
Three new complexes will be opening soon in Arlington, Lacey and Wenatchee.
The Port Townsend location will have 66 assisted living units and 54 apartments for independent retired seniors, said Mountain West Development coordinator Ben Settecase.
The company purchased the property in February 2002 and hopes to begin construction this fall, Settecase said.
Before ground-breaking can take place, the city is taking comments relating to the environmental impact of the project.
