PORT TOWNSEND — School district officials hope third time is a charm on a proposed technology levy during an election scheduled for May 21.
It will be the third attempt to obtain 60 percent voter approval in a year.
The School Board approved a resolution earlier this week to ask voters for $945,600 over three years for computers, servers and related hardware for the district.
The amount sought is considerably less than the $1.5 million over three years that the school district asked voters for last February and May.
“We went back and took a hard look at what we asked for last time,” School Superintendent Carol Andreasen said Thursday.
“We took some things out and decided to pay for them other ways — through grants or other funding.”
The district eliminated $150,000 that it borrowed three years ago to pay for computers and instead decided to pay that money out of district funds.
