PORT TOWNSEND — The School Board will again attempt to pass a multimillion-dollar school bond to rebuild Grant Elementary School and fix other aging facilities.
And voters in the Port Townsend School District will decide the bond in the same Nov. 4 election that they’ll be deciding the next U.S. president, state governor and a host of federal, state and local offices.
Like in the failed vote May 20, at least 60 percent of those voting must approve of the bond, which could be larger than the $33.84 million attempt last month.
Board member Anne Burkart said Monday that she supports rerunning the bond election as soon as possible.
“Prices are going up; bond rates are going up,” Burkart said.
“I think we absolutely should go forward on it.”
Board member John Eissinger agreed.
“We need to take action as soon as possible to put this on the November ballot.”
