A Port Townsend woman said Wednesday she felt “like a Mack truck hit” her after a four-car pile-up on the Hood Canal Bridge Tuesday night.
Cathy Turner, 56, of Port Townsend, was taken to Harrison Hospital in East Bremerton with neck and back injuries and was discharged later that night.
Her car, a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire, is considered to be a total loss.
The chain-reaction collision sent a total of three people to a hospital with minor injuries and closed the bridge for about a half-hour, said State Patrol officials.
Just before 7 p.m. several cars were stopped in the westbound lane on the Hood Canal Bridge — state Highway 104 — while a paving project was under way.
Tammy Krysinski, 35, of Ellensburg was somehow distracted as she drove her 2004 Chevrolet Suburban toward the bridge, said Trooper Brian George, State Patrol information officer.
Krysinski’s Suburban hit Turner’s Sunfire.
That pushed Turner’s car into the car in front of her, a 1991 Geo Metro driven by Scott Buehrer, 23, of Poulsbo.
The momentum sent Buehrer’s car into the back of the vehicle in front of him, a 1988 Toyota Pickup driven by Gail Moore, 46, of Bremerton.
