PORT TOWNSEND — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding information on a hit-and-run collision that sent a Port Townsend man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a compound leg fracture.
Jayd Blue, 42, of Port Townsend was riding his red motor scooter westbound on West Sims Way at about 9 p.m. Friday when a vehicle turned left off 10th Street on to Sims Way and hit Blue, Port Townsend Police Detective Devin McBride said.
The driver of the vehicle continued on to Sims Way without stopping, McBride said.
The force of the impact threw Blue about 20 feet from where his scooter ended up, McBride said, adding the collision totaled the scooter.
Blue suffered a compound leg fracture and was tended to by bystanders before police and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue crews arrived, McBride said.
Satisfactory condition
Blue was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in satisfactory condition as of Monday afternoon.
Police do not have a description of the vehicle, McBride said.
“[There’s] not a lot of information,” he said.
“We’re hoping someone either witnessed it or saw a vehicle leaving the scene with damage.”
