Washington State Ferries will take one ferry out of service on the Port Townsend-Keystone route today.
The state Department of Transportation takes one boat out of service each fall before returning it in late spring to serve increased traffic to Whidbey Island.
The ferry Quinault will serve the route through Nov. 1, then its sister vessel, Klickitat, will take over the run.
Both are diesel-electric powered ferries built in 1927. Each is capable of carrying 75 cars and traveling at 12 knots.
