PORT TOWNSEND — Spotlights will scan the skies and fans flock for autographs as movie stars arrive in town this week for the fourth annual Port Townsend Film Festival.
It runs Friday through Sunday.
“We have far more guest directors, producers and actors than we’ve ever had before,” said Peter Simpson, festival director.
Actress Shirley Knight (“Ya-Ya Sisterhood,” “As Good as It Gets,”) arrives Thursday afternoon from Los Angeles via Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Before opening the festival Friday evening, Knight, who is staying in town with friends, will be at Port Townsend High School to speak to drama students who have been studying her 1966 film, “Dutchman.”
Peter Fonda, who lives in Livingston, Mont., will arrive Friday afternoon by chartered bus from Seattle and will spend the night at a local inn, Simpson said.
The actor/director will host Friday’s showing of his restored 1971 non-traditional Western, “Hired Hand,” and will stay through Saturday to introduce the 1969 cult classic, “Easy Rider.”
