PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend man faces a June 23 trial on charges of voyeurism and indecent liberties while police seek an additional witness in the case.
Christopher Robert Johnson, 29, was charged April 18 and is scheduled for trial in Jefferson County Superior Court, 1820 Jefferson St.
Johnson remained in custody Thursday at the Jefferson County jail on a $100,000 bond.
Port Townsend police are seeking a woman whose images were found on Johnson’s phone.
Detective Devin McBride said officers want to identify the unknown woman “because she might not be aware she is the victim of a crime.”
Police searched Johnson’s home after a Port Angeles woman reported April 12 that she had been sexually assaulted at a home in the 3000 block of Sheridan Street in Port Townsend the night before.
The 27-year-old woman told police she was visiting Johnson’s home with some other acquaintances and lost consciousness after consuming a drink she had fixed herself.
She said she didn’t believe she consumed enough alcohol to pass out.
When she awoke at about 4 a.m., she was partially undressed on the couch, she told police, and Johnson was trying to put something in her mouth and was taking pictures of her with his cellphone.
She fell asleep after that and awakened for a short time at 9:30 a.m. before getting up at 11 a.m. and returning to Port Angeles, police said.
She told police she did not immediately report the incident because she was “scared and unsure of what she should do at first,” McBride said.
A Port Angeles patrolman went to her home and took her statement, McBride said, adding that it was identical to her previous statement but with more detail.
A search of the house on Sheridan Street, undertaken after a search warrant was served, turned up a phone that had images of three women on it.
The women appeared to be asleep or unresponsive, police said.
Officers were able to identify a 31-year-old Port Angeles woman who was interviewed.
They are seeking the other woman pictured on the phone.
She is described as having long, dark hair and a distinctive tattoo on the left side of her abdomen extending to her upper leg.
The police did not release the names of those women they have identified because of the nature of the alleged crime, they said.
They said they released Johnson’s name in the hopes the unidentified woman will recognize him and the area of the home and come forward to talk with investigators.
