Port Townsend man critically injured in Irondale crash

Motorcyclist had no headlights, taillights

PORT HADLOCK – A Port Townsend man was badly hurt in critical condition Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a Thursday night vehicle collision on Rhody Drive in Irondale.

James I. Hanson, 24, was listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday. His condition Saturday was unknown.

Hanson was riding a green Kawasaki KX250 motocross motorcycle northbound on state Highway 19 with no headlights or taillights at 8:24 p.m. when he collided with a southbound black Mazda CX-3 driven by Stephanie L. Brock-Farrington, 57, of Port Hadlock, according to a State Patrol memo.

Brock-Farrington was turning left onto Irondale Road when Hanson’s motorcycle struck her car, troopers said. Hanson was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the roadway, according to the memo.

Both vehicles were completely destroyed and towed from the scene, and Hanson was airlifted to Harborview.

The State Patrol is continuing to investigate the collision.
