Port Townsend man arrested in connection with drug investigation on Bainbridge Island

PORT TOWNSEND — One man was arrested in Port Townsend in connection with a Bainbridge Island drug investigation, and police are seeking another person, said Port Townsend Sgt. Ed Green.

Mark Ohl, no age available, was taken into custody Friday by Bainbridge Island police officers at a home at 2016 Summit Way where he had been living, Green said.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Green said. “There is one other individual they are still looking for.”

The Port Townsend Police Department is assisting the Bainbridge Island police, Green said.

“The Bainbridge Island police have been investigating the sale of illegal drugs in their area,” Green said.

“Some information led them to individuals here.”

Green said he had few specifics about the investigation.

“I know cocaine was mentioned,” Green said. “But there may be more.”

Bainbridge Island Officer Dale Johnson said that Ohl was a resident several years ago.

He had no details about the investigation.

Ohl’s arrest was witnessed by a neighbor.

“Not sure what’s going down but there are about 8 to 9 cops on Summit Avenue in Townsen Point,” said the e-mail to the Peninsula Daily News from Katherine McKelvey.

“Two are SUVs from Bainbridge Island. They look like SWAT. They are carryng machine guns and high powered rifles slung across their chests.”

Green said that, because the investigation was ongoing, he had limited information and would release more as it became available.
