PORT TOWNSEND — The Port will limit RV stays at Point Hudson to two weeks and long-term recreational vehicles currently camping will be given an extended deadline of June 30 to leave, commissioners decided at a meeting Wednesday.
Those decisions were part of a daylong public workshop and commissioners meeting that focused on the future of Point Hudson, including possible repairs the Port of Port Townsend will need to make when it takes over the site April 1.
Several of the half-dozen RV occupants who have called Point Hudson home year-round will be given a “transition” period to leave after the Port takes the sprawling property over, commissioners decided.
The current tenants will be allowed to stay on through June 30, said Commissioner Bob Sokol.
After the Port takes over, new RVs will be allowed to stay for 14 days plus an additional seven days if space is available, Sokol said.
New tenants will also be allowed to stay on a month-to-month basis from Oct. 1 through April 30 for a slightly higher fee than the $330-a-month rent RV tenants currently pay, Sokol said.
