Port Townsend Library Director Linnea Patrick announced Tuesday that she will retire at the end of 2003.
The advance retirement notice allows the city to budget for recruitment costs as well sa consider a proposed merger with Jefferson County Rural Library District.
“It will be a factor in our recruitment,” Patrick said. “We”ll know farther down the line if we are looking at getting someone for a limited time commitment or an indefinite future.”
The library will start the process to find her replacement next year, Patrick said.
The library director position pays $56,926 annually to oversee a 45,000 piece collection and 7.3 full-time equivalent employees.
