PORT TOWNSEND — Author Pam Clise was honored as the Jefferson County Historical Society’s 2002 Volunteer of the Year on Sunday.
Her naming highlighted the society’s 51st annual Founders’ Day meeting, held at the J.C. Saunders House on Sims Hill.
More than 150 members attended the meeting and toured the house, a three-story Queen Ann- and shingle-style residence built in 1891.
Clise, author of On the Hill, a History of the Uptown Business District, was honored for her research on commercial buildings in Port Townsend.
She is also team leader of the society’s historical properties survey, a member of the education committee and has been a museum trustee, said Dr. Niki Clark, director of the historical society’s museum, who presented the award.
“There are so many great volunteers doing so many things,” Clise said. “I accept this award in honor of all the volunteers and consider myself holding it for them.”
Clise and six other authors received certificates of appreciation from Margaret Lee on behalf of the society.
