PORT TOWNSEND — The radiology department at Jefferson General Hospital has been awarded a three-year accreditation in mammography by the American College of Radiology.
“It means patients know they are coming to a facility that has high-quality technicians and equipment certified through the Food and Drug Administration and the American College of Radiology,” Teri Roorbach, director of the radiology department said.
The accreditation followed a monthlong survey of quality control measures in the radiology department that included certification that all technologists and radiologists were completing mandated continuing education, and that FDA standards are being met.
The survey is conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field of mammography.
