PORT TOWNSEND — A planned protest against the state Fish and Wildlife Commission’s recreational crabbing regulations could slow holiday traffic Saturday morning.
The state Fish and Wildlife Commission will be meeting this weekend at Fort Worden State Park. The public meetings take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the USO Building in the park.
Gary Hulsey, president of East Jefferson chapter of Puget Sound Anglers, is leading the protest as a way of asking for less stringent regulations.
Hulsey’s plan calls for a parade of 26 pickup trucks towing boats to travel from the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and through downtown around 10 a.m.
Two representatives from each of the 13 Puget Sound Anglers chapters will drive in the convoy, he said.
