PORT TOWNSEND — As the annual Port Townsend Film Festival begins its second decade, it is offering two clues weekly for its traditional Guess the Guest contest.
Each year, the film festival, which screens films from around the world, features a Hollywood star as a special guest.
Past year’s guests have included Tony Curtis, Cloris Leachman, Jane Powell and Peter Fonda.
Each year, a contest to guess the name of the special guest begins about two months before the film festival, which will be Sept. 24-26 this year.
The winner, who will be chosen by random drawing from the first correct answers, will have a photograph taken with the festival’s special guest.
In the past, one clue per week has been released. This year, two clues will be offered weekly, with the next clues released Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.
The announcement and the winner will be revealed on Aug. 18.
TWO CLUES
Here’s Clue Number 1:
“Doin’ the best they can, two American kids
“singing songs of fame
“what do you do
“when the song’s about you
“and no one remembers your name?”
Here’s Clue Number 2:
“He tootled the horn, to his sister’s scorn,
“who would often give him the shoulder.
“But now she’s a fan, Adolphe is her man,
“and his honking has grown so much bolder.”
HOW TO ENTER
To enter the contest, send your guess by mail to the Port Townsend Film Festival, PO Box 594, Port Townsend, WA 98368, by e-mail to director@ptfilmfest.com, with “Contest” written in the subject line, or by hand-delivery to the film festival office at Mount Baker Block, 211 Taylor St., Suite 32-A, second floor, at the corner of Water and Taylor Streets.
Entries should include the guest guess, and the guesser’s mailing address, daytime phone number and e-mail address. The winner will be chosen by random drawing from the first correct answers.
“Each year our reputation grows as a haven for filmmakers to meet with curious and well-informed audiences,” said Janette Force, festival director.
“We have at least one world premiere, many regional premieres and dozens of filmmakers, actors and technicians attending. Our special guest will be in good company.”
