PORT TOWNSEND — The 50-car Steilacoom II ferry was pulled out of service on the Port Townsend-Keystone route for repairs this afternoon, delaying ferry runs for more than three hours, a Washington State Ferries spokeswoman said.
“It had a minor issue on the rudder and was repaired,” said Marta Coursey.
The ferry was pulled from service at about 2 p.m. and returned to service at 5:30 p.m. after successful sea trials in Port Townsend Bay.
Two round trips were canceled and some traffic was backed up along Water Street, waiting at the Port Townsend ferry terminal.
The delay resulted in two round trips canceled, Coursey said.
