PORT TOWNSEND — After more than a year of planning, the $1.7 million F Street construction project is set to begin Wednesday.
The project, which will straighten and widen a road that may have been a wagon trail in Port Townsend’s pioneer days, could last through the end of the year, said general contractor Larry Aillaud of Primo Construction.
The project will include sidewalks, bike lanes and greenbelts in addition to a new, straighter two-lane asphalt surface, he said.
Artwork will also be incorporated into the project, with artist Mall Johani contributing a sculpture made of cement and infused with ceramic tile.
