PORT TOWNSEND — Fort Worden State Park kicked off a 10-day celebration of its transition from a military defense post to a center for arts and recreation Saturday.
Known as “Enhancement Days,” it is the third of four celebrations this year marking the fort’s centennial.
But the fort’s main attraction, its breathtaking scenery, needed no enhancement.
“It’s a beautiful day to be on the Peninsula,” visitor Roy Hawksley said. “The ferry ride, the drive up, Fort Worden — it’s all been perfect.”
