A dancer with the Pacific Northwest Ballet who was making her final U.S. performance before retiring suffered a broken foot during a show at Fort Worden State Park on Monday night.
Julie Tobiason suffered the injury during a performance of “Jard^on Tancat”‘ (Catalan for “Closed Garden”) at McCurdy Pavilion.
“The injury occurred about five minutes into the show,” said Kevin Elliff, director of marketing for the sponsoring Centrum Arts. “She is under a doctor’s care and will be fine.”
Tobiason was set to retire after Pacific Northwest Ballet’s trip to England in July to perform in London’s historical Sadler Wells Theatre.
“She won’t be making that trip,” Elliff said.
