PORT TOWNSEND — It is 6:30 p.m. Friday, and movie producer Jason Green has lined up his actors, screenwriters, cinematographer, artistic director, sound engineer and technicians.
With this pool of talent, he plans to produce a video masterpiece by Sunday night.
All he needs is a concept.
Green and his crew, Last Minute Productions, are one of 40 teams entered in this year’s Film 2880, a contest to see who can make the best short video on a given theme in 48 hours.
Started last year by professional photographer and videographer Peter Wiant in conjunction with the Port Townsend Film Festival, the contest attracts aspiring filmmakers from the Northwest and beyond, all vying for the honor of having their work shown at the conclusion of the festival.
“Most of our entries are from the Seattle-Bellevue area, but we have teams from Puerto Rico, California, Minnesota and Illinois,” Wiant said.
“We had six teams from Hong Kong last year, and six this year. I had to get up at 4 a.m. to e-mail them the theme.”
