PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County commissioners must do everything they can to ensure a businessman doesn’t relocate his Victorian hardware distribution business elsewhere, three residents told the panel Monday.
Port Townsend residents Al Frank and Leola Armstrong and Port Ludlow resident Tim Caldwell addressed the commissioners at their regular meeting.
“I think it’s really important you get together with the city and talk to them,” said Frank, a former Port Townsend city councilman.
“I think you ought to ask him to come in and find him a place,” said Armstrong, who ran for City Council in 2001.
The county has already asked Kenneth Kelly to consider building a 20,000-square-foot Victorian hardware distribution complex in an unincorporated area of the county.
Kelly owns the Anglo American Brass Co., American Home Supply and Vintage Hardware, all located in San Jose, Calif.
